What is tally.ie
tally.ie is an open-source platform for real-time vote tallying in Irish PR-STV elections. Every count, every transfer, every box — recorded live, visible to anyone, auditable by everyone.
Designed for returning officers, coordinators, and talliers, it replaces paper tally sheets and unofficial spreadsheets with a structured, tamper-evident system that anyone can inspect — and anyone can fork.
How it works
Set up your election with constituencies, candidates, and box numbers. Invite coordinators and generate access codes for talliers — no app install required.
Each tallier enters vote counts from their box as the count progresses. Submissions sync instantly, with offline queuing if connectivity drops.
A live, shareable results page updates in real time as boxes come in. Every entry is logged immutably — the full audit trail is always available.
